What's on in Cambridge - August Edition

One of the greatest aspects of living in Cambridge is the constant great range of events that we have hosted by our community. 

We have collated together some of the events available to locals community members in the Cambridge and wider Waipa area for August. 

Weekly Cambridge Farmers Market - Every Saturday Morning from 8am

If you haven’t yet risen that little bit earlier on Saturday and made your way down to Cambridge’s Farmers’ market, you need to!
Fresh produce and smiling stallholders await with the best local foods Cambridge growers and artisans have to offer. It’s on at Victoria Square in the middle of Cambridge town every Saturday from 8-12. So wrap up warm, grab a coffee and purchase some great fruit, veggies and other foods from local growers, and create a fantastic meal for your weekend! Tamahere Country Market - Saturday 17th August 8.30-1pm & Tamahere Antiques and Collector’s Fair

If farmers markets aren’t quite your forte, but still interested in attending a market and getting involved with what local artisans and creators are making then come along to St Stephens Church Grounds where the monthly Tamahere Country Market is held. Full of great food and creations, along with local live music there is something for the whole family for a fun Saturday morning outing. Alongside the Tamahere Country Market the Antiques and Collectors Fair is held just around the corner (literally!) at Tamahere Community Hall. Great to fossick through and find a great antique or curio that may make a wonderful gift for a loved one. 

Battle of The Bridge Trophy Game Day - 17th August - Leamington Rugby Sports Club

Which side of the bridge are you supporting?

Come along to a fun day filled with sport, food, music and fun to celebrate the rugby and netball games with the teams Hautapu vs. Leamington and Cambridge vs. Piako.

Kicking off at noon with the netball game, and running with various games (including half time tug of war and the Battle of the Bridges rugby game) and kids activities till 5.15 where there will be speeches and dinner. 

Miniature Trains - 18th August - Leamington Domain

Weather permitting, the miniature trains run by Cambridge Model Engineering Club will be going for children to have a ride around the domain. From 10-2pm you can come along and children can go adventure around the domain for $2, with under 5’s free with a paying adult!
Covered shoes are required, so don’t forget the gumboots.

Stables Weekly Quiz Night - Every Tuesday from 7pm - Stables Bar & Grill

Get your quiz face on!

Every Tuesday, Stables holds a fun, family-oriented quiz night with questions from various topics and great prizes up for grabs. Kids are more than welcome, and there’s no minimum or maximum amount of team members, so rustle up some members and venture out to enjoy a fun weekday evening!

Cambridge Patchwork Group’s Quilt Exhibition - 24th & 25th August - St Andrew’s Anglican Church  

Come along and see the magnificent quilts and designs on display at the Quilt Exhibition run by Cambridge Patchwork Group. Open from 10-4pm, there will be refreshments available alongside display quilts, raffles, sales tables and merchants to purchase anything you may need to complete your own quilt work. Entry is $5.00 with all proceeds going towards a wonderful cause; the Neurological Foundation of NZ.

Lazarus String Quartet - 27th August - St Andrew’s Anglican Church

A distinguished string quartet group from Berlin are bringing their melodic sound to New Zealand and Australia. Cambridge is lucky enough to be their only Waikato destination, so if classical music is your thing, pop along and enjoy their beautiful performance. Tickets are available at the door for $20. Mosaic Charity Variety Concert - 31st August - Cambridge Town Hall

2pm on Saturday 31st August Mosaic and local performers of the Waikato region are coming together to bring a variety concert to the people of Cambridge, supporting the Cambridge-based organisation Kids in Need Waikato.

Tickets are available for pre-sale at Paper Plus stores in Cambridge, Te Awamutu and Morrinsville, at $10/Adults, $5/seniors or kids and $25/family (2 adults and 2 kids).
