What's On in Cambridge: October Edition

Can you believe that we’re already in October!?

Less than TWO MONTHS away from Christmas… the body shudders at the thought. But before we get ahead of ourselves, let’s have a look at some great events that are coming up over the next month. 

3rd October - Faulty Towers at The Races

If you’re heading to the races on the 3rd, get two shows for the price of one thanks to the Faulty Towers theatre show between races. As the description says “Come prepared for Basil, Sybil & Manuel to give you side-splitting humour as they integrate your favourite Faulty Tower moments and then spice it up with their quirky improvisations while placing your bets!”

Tickets are $35 per person or $30 for members. Prices include an arrival drink, racebook and the show!

4th October - Elevenses with Lisa Lorrell

Come along to 24 Raleigh Street on the 4th October to see international award-winning songstress Lisa Lorrell perform live! Taking the crowd on a musical adventure filled with fun, laughter and nostalgia she’ll be performing classic songs from various genres including musicals and operetta, jazz, country and pop music. Plus to add into the “Elevenses” theme, the performance will be complemented by a spread of club sandwiches, sweet treats and more!

Oct 6th & Oct 26th - Football-National Women’s League

Cambridge Football Club’s John Kerkhof Park has been named as the home ground and training base for the Waikato Bay of Plenty Team to represent the Waikato/Bay of Plenty in the 2019 National Women’s League.

Thanks to this, Cambridge will be hosting a few home games. The October games are as follows:

WaiBOP v Canterbury United – Sunday October 6, 12pm
WaiBOP v Capital – Saturday October 26, 1.30pm

12th October - Ford Car Display

If you’re a Ford can fan, then this is for you! 
Come along to the Victoria square and enjoy a display of Ford cars thanks to NZ Fieldays Society. Running from 8.30am - 12, it’s a great family morning out!

13th October - Cambridge Trash N’ Treasure Market

If you haven’t yet been along to a Trash N’ Treasure market, add it to your to-do list for this month. 
Jam-packed with handmade creations and bits and bobs that is no longer needed by it’s previous owner, it’s a great place to find some new goodies for yourself and your family with over 200 stalls usually up and running! And don’t forget the food, coffee and music that is played throughout the day. 

18th-20th October - Equidays

From cars to horses, this is the Fieldays for equestrians and horse fans all around!
Equidays brings together some of the world’s best equine professionals from a variety of disciplines to share their knowledge and experience with visitors through educational and inspirational clinics and seminars

Held at Mystery Creek over the weekend, this is a great event to attend to enjoy finding out about the latest products and services, and testing skills in competitions, or just going for a look around. There’s something for everyone who’s a horse fan.

26th-27th October - New Zealand Crossfit Team Nationals

Take some time out over your labour weekend to watch some of the fittest in New Zealand compete head-to-head at the world class Avantidrome in Cambridge. Competing athletes in teams of 6 from all over New Zealand will go through rigorous activities and judging to become the fittest crossfit team in New Zealand. Head along to watch and cheer on the athletes.

28th October - St Andrew’s Giant Craft and Collectable Fair

A great  to look through some amazing New Zealand crafts with craft holders coming from everywhere from Whangarei to Christchurch. With 100 stalls, plus refreshments and the Cambridge Brass Band performing, it’ll be a great morning out for everyone.
